Today I knocked off some high spots and cut and fit the skeg and gunwale guards. The next step will be to sand the boat fair and add a layer of west 410 fairing compound. Then more sanding!

Today I faired the bottom planking, filled all the screw holes and voids with epoxy wood flour. Then I cut and made pattern with 6oz glass cloth then set it with epoxy!

Today I planked the bottom. I had to take some 1″x12″ rough red cedar planks, cut them into 1×2 1/2×36″ short planks then planed them. Then I fit them to the bottom. Next week I’ll fair the bottom and glass it with 6oz cloth.

Today I scribed the chine planks, set the angle on the hand jigsaw, and cut it. Then I cut, glued, fit and clamped in the chinelogs. After that I lofted, cut and fit the sheer planks. Then I removed the chinelog clamps and cut them to fit. Tomorrow I’ll begin planking the bottom.

Today I received the rough red cedar plank from my good friend Henry. I planed them from a rough sawn one full inch to 5/8″. Then lofted out the chine plank and glued and fit it to the transoms. Tomorrow the sheer plank is next. I posted a couple of pics of the wheelbarrow boat…

Saturday. Today the Wheelbarrow project is compete with the building of the set of oars. Just a quick reminder that this boat and oars were built 100% with wood that came from logs reclaimed and milled that were floating down the Columbia a River!

2-17-16 Wednesday. Today I cut the hole for the wheel, fiberglassed and epoxy sealed the well. This afternoon I put a coat of paint on it. Tomorrow I’ll fare it and add another coat of paint after I install the wheel.
