Saturday afternoon it was near 100 degrees so the wind was coming from the East (not normal) blowing about 5-6 knots! Here are a few shots of Slough Coot making way under sail.

This last week I believe I completed the last structural build on “Slough Coot”. This last piece was building the solid teak bases for three brass cleats – two for the mainsheet traveler and one near the center of the aft deck for the painter-line that will tow the dinghy.

Yesterday evening we launched “Slough Coot”. Today we sailed her up the Lower Columbia river. What a perfect day!

Today I hung some framed photos in the cabin. They add that homey feel. Last week I rebuilt the whole tiller and tiller/rudder mounting. I plugged the big hole in the back of the cockpit combing. This hole was where the old tiller came thru and the tiller was fixed – no up and down…

Today I did some fine tuning on the rigging, installed a tilt meter to gauge the degree of heel and a new tiller-tamer. This will be the last post till she launched. I promise!

The keel modifications are now complete and according to Dudley’s specs. Here are a couple of photos of the finished product.

The last couple of days I’ve been removing deadwood from the keel so she will be built to Dudley Dix specs. I’ve also had to cut 4″ off the top of the outboard motor bracket so the prop will be at the right depth so there will be no cavitation. The keel was built so…
